Threat to Our Rights

06 October 2014

The Tories have announced that they plan to pull the UK out of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) which would put us on a legal footing with Belarus – the last "dictatorship" in Europe.

Not only is the ECHR a valuable tool for all citizens to challenge their governments when they violate their human rights it is wrong to say the it has jurisdiction over British law. It is up to the governments to interpret judgements and enforce the law as they see appropriate.  Share this to let your friends know what the Tories plan to do.

Do you think the North East needs its own voice in the EU exit negotiations?
