Paul meets new National Farmers' Union president

27 April 2018

Earlier this week Paul Brannen MEP met with Minette Batters, the new president of the National Farmers’ Union, to discuss farming in England and what impact Brexit could have on the sector.

As Labour’s EU spokesperson on agriculture, Paul shared a short briefing on agriculture in the UK post Brexit with the NFU president, based on his views of how leaving the EU will affect the sector.

Paul’s main concern is that farmers in our country have not been made aware of the budget cuts they are facing once Brexit and its transition period are finalised.

Ms Batters, who is the first woman to be appointed in this role, visited the European Parliament in Brussels on Wednesday.
