MEPs support Barbour strike

09 January 2015

Along with my fellow Labour MEP Jude Kirton-Darling we are supporting the strike at Barbour.

I joined the striking workers at Barbour this morning because the company is looking to change shift patterns which would make life difficult for many workers. For instance the proposed last shift of the day would finish after the last bus. The staff I met there are hardworking and dedicated to the company. I was pleased to hear that the company are going to start to negotiate with staff on Monday at ACAS and hope that those discussions are successful.

Do you think the North East needs its own voice in the EU exit negotiations?
