Jude Kirton-Darling MEP spoke at the Hexham Debates about the UK's membership of the European Union.

Under the chairmanship of George Hepburn, the platform consisted of four speakers, Jude Kirton-Darling MEP and Guy Opperman MP represented the Remain campaign, and Jonathan Arnott MEP and Andy Saunders, Chair, Business for Britain NE, represented the Leave campaign.

The Hexham Debates group organised a Hustings for the European Referendum, and it was held at the Queen Elizabeth High School in Hexham, on Saturday.

Jude Kirton-Darling MEP:

“It is crucial for the North East that we remain in the European Union.

“Our membership of the EU has benefited Hexham through access to EU funding and investment, including funding for the Kielder Observatory.

“The European Union creates jobs in the region, protects our rights, improves our environment, and ensures that we live in a safer, more secure world.”

Do you think the North East needs its own voice in the EU exit negotiations?
