Government must do more for Brits abroad post Brexit

20 March 2018

Labour MEPs have joined with colleagues from across the UK political spectrum to demand greater clarity over the future of UK nationals currently living elsewhere in the EU. The draft withdrawal agreement, realised today, is missing the key section, article 32, which covers the rights of UK citizens post Brexit. This leaves millions of people without any reassurance or clarity over what rights they will have after Brexit.

UK citizens who moved elsewhere in the EU did so legally and with the very best of intentions. Since the referendum they have been left stranded, along with EU nationals living here in the UK, waiting for answers that are still yet to come. We hope that the UK government will step up and do everything that it can to resolve this issue as a matter of urgency.
