W HIST South Shields

Women’s Health Initiative in South Tyneside is a fantastic organisation which provides a range of services for women in the local area. Based in South Shields, it receives EU money for things like counselling, skills courses and training on mental and physical health. It is a great example of how the EU helps people in local communities to support and change their lives.

WHIST was founded in 1986 by a group of determined volunteers after they identified gaps in services for women. It has since flourished and now supports over 250 women a week, providing a model that many other organisations can benefit from.

Do you think the North East needs its own voice in the EU exit negotiations?
